Kenya Railways Corporation has completed a major overhaul of its management structure, filling senior positions and promoting over 110 junior staff.

According to Maj General (Rtd) Pastor Awita, the KRC board chairman, the restructuring process began in March 2018 and saw almost all senior managers demoted or reassigned.

“Kenya Railways has been undertaking restructuring from March 2018 upon approval of the new organisation structure. As part of the restructuring process, various vacant positions that were advertised externally and internally were filled by December 3, 2019,” said Maj-Gen Awita.

The agency has also been working to fill the position of managing director, which has been vacant since August 2019 following corruption allegations against the former MD, Atanas Maina.

Under the new changes, several key positions have been filled, including David Njogu as general manager for legal services, Edwin Njeru as GM for internal audit and research, and Jessica Indangasi as GM for ICT.

Additionally, the corporation has promoted over 110 junior staff to enhance staff motivation and morale, as stated by Maj-Gen Awita.
