This archive report was first published on 9 January 2020.

On January 7, 2020, lawyer Miguna Miguna was expected to return to Kenya, but his travel plans were thwarted after two airlines refused to admit him.

According to Miguna's in-laws, the government has failed to facilitate his return, leading to their disappointment.

They are, however, hopeful that the matter will be resolved amicably, allowing Miguna to attend his father-in-law's burial scheduled for January 22, 2020, in Migori.

Government Spokesperson Colonel Retired Cyrus Oguna dismissed claims that the government is frustrating Miguna's return, attributing the issue to Miguna's own unruly behavior and lack of valid travel documents.

Leonard Omollo, a relative of Miguna, expressed frustration with the government's lack of commitment to ensure Miguna's safe return.
