On January 9, 2020, Tanzanian Premier League side Yanga SC announced the appointment of Belgian coach Luc Eymael, who previously worked with AFC Leopards.

According to Eymael, he is excited about the prospect of working with Yanga SC and is looking forward to enjoying his time in Tanzania.

“I am traveling to Tanzania to finalize everything and my hope is it works out. Let’s how this adventure pans out but I am ready for it,” Eymael said in an interview with Nation Sport.

Yanga SC, who are currently fifth in the Tanzanian Premier League standings with 25 points, announced Eymael's appointment on their official Instagram account.

“Welcome to Tanzania, welcome to Yanga SC coach Luc Eymael from Belgium,” the club captioned the coach’s photo.

Eymael replaces club legend Boniface Mkwasa, who had been appointed on an interim basis in November after the sacking of Mwinyi Zahara. Mkwasa is expected to be retained by the club but in a different capacity.

Under Mkwasa's leadership, Yanga SC had a successful December, with five wins and two draws in seven matches, earning him the league's coach of the month award.

This is Eymael's third work station in the last six months, following his departure from Egypt's El Ghaish FC in July and his resignation from South Africa's Black Leopards in December.
