On January 9, 2020, Narok County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti announced increased security measures in Narok town and its environs to prevent any potential terror attacks.

The move comes after a recent spate of attacks by suspected Al Shabaab militia, including an unsuccessful attack on Manda Military Base near Lamu Airstrip on Sunday.

Commissioner Kimiti urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious-looking individuals to the authorities to prevent any disaster.

With many foreign tourists visiting the world-famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve, the county government is leaving nothing to chance to ensure the safety of both locals and visitors.
