On Wednesday, January 8, 2020, the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) witnessed a series of exciting matches that saw Tusker Football Club take the top spot after defeating Kisumu All-Stars 2-0 at Ruaraka Stadium.

Posta Rangers, on the other hand, stunned AFC Leopards 2-1 at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, with Sammy Odero scoring the winning goal in the dying minutes of the match.

Francis Nambute scored the first goal for Posta Rangers in the 55th minute, while John Makwatta equalized for AFC Leopards from the penalty spot in the 65th minute. However, Odero's stunning left-footed strike in the 90th minute sealed the win for Posta Rangers.

Leopards coach Anthony Kimani attributed the loss to conceding a goal at a bad time, stating, 'We conceded at a very bad time so there is nothing much we could do to change the result of the match.'

Meanwhile, Tusker's win over Kisumu All-Stars saw them leapfrog defending champions Gor Mahia to the top of the KPL standings with 34 points.

Tusker coach Robert Matano praised his team's response to the visitors' pressure, saying, 'We knew the visitors would come hard at us considering they are fighting to regain form and survive but I am happy with the way the team responded and the first half narrow lead was key to winning the match.'

Other matches saw Kakamega Homeboyz move to second place after beating Zoo Kericho 1-0, while Kariobangi Sharks ended their 10-match winless run by edging out Bandari 1-0 at Kasarani Stadium.
