Published on January 8, 2020, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a stern warning to Iran, stating that Israel would strike a 'resounding blow' if attacked by its arch foe.
Netanyahu made the statement at a Jerusalem conference, where he praised US President Donald Trump for 'acting swiftly, boldly, and resolutely' in killing Major General Qasem Soleimani, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards foreign operations arm.
Netanyahu described Soleimani as a 'terrorist-in-chief', responsible for the deaths of countless innocent people and the destabilization of many countries for decades.
"Anyone who attacks us will receive a resounding blow," Netanyahu said, as regional tensions soar following the US drone strike on Soleimani in Baghdad.
Iran has launched a salvo of retaliatory missile strikes on bases used by US troops in Iraq, prompting a senior Iranian official to warn that Israeli cities of Haifa and Tel Aviv would be turned 'to dust' if Washington carried out further military action.
