On Wednesday, January 8, 2020, a fatal road accident occurred along the Njoro-Mau Narok road, claiming one life and leaving two others seriously injured.
According to Njoro Sub-County Police Commander Mohammed Huka, the accident happened when a matatu rammed into a boda boda at Mauche trading center.
"The boda boda rider was hit from behind by a matatu heading in the same direction," Huka explained. "One of the rider's passengers died on the spot, while the rider and his second passenger were left in critical condition," he added.
The two injured individuals were rushed to the Nakuru Level Five Hospital for treatment.
Commander Huka warned matatu drivers against careless driving, urging them to be extra cautious, and also cautioned boda boda operators against carrying more than one passenger.
The matatu involved in the accident was impounded at Njoro Police station, and the driver was held pending investigations.
Just two days prior to this accident, a passenger was killed in a hit-and-run incident at Methonge along the same route.
