On January 8, 2020, health services in Mombasa County were severely disrupted as hundreds of patients were left stranded due to a go-slow by health workers.

The workers, who are demanding payment of their December salaries, claimed that the county government had failed to honor earlier agreements, including the inclusion of leave allowances and the permanent employment of staff on contract.

According to reports, the health workers have given the county government a one-week notice to pay the arrears, failure to which they will resort to a full-blown strike.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, an electrician was electrocuted while working in Kirege village of Embu East Sub-County on Wednesday.

The incident brings to four the number of electricians who have died on the job in Embu recently.
