On Wednesday, Posta Rangers edged out AFC Leopards 2-1 in a thrilling Kenyan Premier League match at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. The match-winning goal came in stoppage time, courtesy of Francis Nambute.
Published on January 8, 2020, the match saw Posta Rangers move up to 10th place in the league standings with 19 points from 15 matches, while AFC Leopards settled for seventh place with 25 points from the same number of matches.
Despite the loss, AFC Leopards' stand-in coach Anthony Kimani praised his team's efforts, saying, "The boys gave their best to at least salvage a point but in the end, we gave them a few opportunities and they scored a last-minute goal and there's very little we could do to come back."
Posta Rangers' coach Sammy "Pamzo" Omollo commended AFC Leopards for their organized approach to the match, stating, "I feel for Ingwe - last-minute goals are always painful and Ingwe had given a lot of effort. They played well and are a very organised team now in terms of tactical approach to matches."
The match saw several key substitutions, including Clyde Senaji's early exit due to injury and Peter Thiongo's replacement by Francis Nambute in the 15th minute.
Posta Rangers took the lead in the 48th minute through Francis Nambute's low shot, but AFC Leopards equalized three minutes later through John Mark Makwatta's penalty conversion. The match remained intense, with Posta Rangers introducing Eliud Lokuwam and Billy Oporia in the 76th and 80th minutes, respectively.
