Published on January 8, 2020, Miguna's odyssey began in Canada, where he was born and raised. He then traveled to the United States, before making his way to Mexico, where he was briefly detained. From there, he moved on to Panama, where he was again held by authorities. His final destination was Costa Rica, where he remains to this day.

Throughout his journey, Miguna has been vocal about his desire to return to Kenya, where he was born to Kenyan parents. However, his efforts have been met with resistance from the Kenyan government, which has refused to grant him entry.
