Kenyan authorities have been accused of blocking the return of lawyer Miguna Miguna, who has been in forced exile in Canada. The Canadian-based lawyer had announced his triumphant return to Kenya, but was forced to disembark from an Air France flight under unclear circumstances.
According to reports, Miguna had boarded an Air France flight destined for Nairobi, but was removed from the plane before it took off. He later confirmed the incident in a Twitter post, accusing President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga of being afraid, cowardly, tyrannical, and weak.
Sharing her sentiments on Twitter, Kandara MP Alice Wahome minced no words in calling out Interior CS Fred Matiang'i for refusing to allow Miguna back into the country. She accused the CS of telling contradicting stories and giving lame excuses through the government Spokesman Lt Col Cyrus Oguna.
“CS Matiang’i don’t tell stories through government Spokesman Cyrus Oguna. Bring Miguna home. Don’t expose your inefficiency or worse still, tyranny.” Hon Wahome had tweeted.
Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen also seemed to read from the same page with Hon Wahome, alluding to government officials who are sabotaging the President’s legacy. He called for the unconditional admission of Miguna Miguna back into the country and seemed to suggest that officers from the President’s office and not the president himself who were frustrating Miguna’s return.
