On January 8, 2020, a sense of unease settled over Genga village in Rangwe Sub-county, Homa-Bay, following the tragic murder of a 30-year-old man.
The victim, Billy Otieno, was reportedly attacked and stabbed to death by his cousin, who accused him of having an extramarital affair with his wife.
Rangwe Sub-county Police Commander Jane Sang' confirmed the incident, stating that the woman at the centre of the dispute had been arrested and was assisting police with investigations.
Area Chief Andrew Okambo revealed that the deceased had engaged in a fight with his cousin two weeks prior to the murder, over the same issue.
According to Chief Okambo, 'During the fight, the deceased used a machete to cut the arm of the cuckolded man. After the victim healed, he made plans to revenge the assault.'
Chief Okambo further stated that the suspect had been targeting the deceased for revenge, and had planned a revenge mission until the fateful night when he cornered his victim.
The administrator added that a manhunt had been launched for the suspect, who was reported to have disappeared after the heinous act.
Otieno's body was taken to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation.
