On January 8, 2020, a bomb exploded at a busy junction in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, wounding at least 11 people.

The blast occurred near buildings housing government offices, with no immediate claim of responsibility.

Abdikadir Abdirahman, head of Aamin ambulance services, confirmed that three of those wounded were women.

At least 90 people were killed in Mogadishu just last week in a bomb attack by Islamist militant group al Shabaab, the deadliest in the country in over two years.
