On January 7th, 2019, lawyer Miguna Miguna arrived in Germany, intending to travel to Kenya. However, a red alert was issued by the Kenyan authorities, and he was left stranded in Germany.

Undeterred, Miguna traveled from Germany to France, where he secured another flight to Nairobi. He even boarded the Air France flight AF0814 at the Charles De Gaulle Airport, taking a picture and sitting in seat 22A, ready for takeoff.

But just minutes before departure, Miguna was declared an alien by Kenyan authorities and removed from the aircraft. This is the second time he has been removed from a flight, and he remains stuck in Europe.

As the judges issue their 15th order to have the Kenyan authorities return Miguna, it remains to be seen what the government will do. The government has not honored any order since March 2018.

Justice Weldon Korir has set a hearing for Friday, where Miguna will file another application to compel the state to allow his return to Kenya.
