On January 8, 2020, a devastating air disaster struck Iran when a Ukrainian Boeing 737-800 crashed just minutes after take-off from Imam Khomeini airport in Tehran, killing 170 people on board.

The flight was headed to the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, and was carrying more than 170 people when it crashed.
