Published on January 8, 2020, a study revealed that the first Sunday of the year is the perfect time for singles to look for online connections.
According to Zoosk CMO Luciana Telles, the first weekend after New Year's Eve is ideal for setting New Year's resolutions and thinking about how to put them into practice.
"It's about 6 weeks out from Valentine's Day, meaning that singles who spark something on January 5 have plenty of time left to lock down a date for February 14," she added.
Other dating apps, such as Hinge and The Inner Circle, also reported a surge in users and matches during this time.
David Vermeulen, CEO and founder of The Inner Circle, predicted a 3% increase in stats on this day.
Match believes that dating TV shows could be another reason why one third of singles are looking to revamp their love lives this year.
So, if you're worried that your dating profile isn't up to scratch, here are some tips from Match:
- Complete your profile properly - an incomplete profile gives other users the impression that you're not committed to online dating
- Don't be a catfish - Upload photos that actually look like you. So, lose the filters and smile
- Your bio shows off your personality. A long-winded profile can be pretty painful to read - you want to provide just enough information to pique the singles attention
- Be open to new dating opportunities
