On January 8, 2020, a dramatic incident unfolded in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, as police officers gunned down four men suspected of being part of a dreaded gang terrorizing residents.

According to Johnstone Ipara, the Uasin Gishu County police commander, the suspects had ignored an order to stop at a police roadblock, prompting the officers to open fire.

The four men were killed instantly, causing a massive traffic congestion along the busy Eldoret-Kitale highway.

During the operation, officers recovered a Taurus pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition, two magazines, and a pocket phone that the suspects were using to evade police roadblocks.

Witnesses claimed the four men were planning to rob a hardware store in Eldoret town before the incident.
