January 8, 2020 - The Los Angeles Lakers continued their dominance in the NBA, extending their winning streak to six games with a 117-87 rout of the New York Knicks on Tuesday.
However, the victory was marred by a scare for Lakers star Anthony Davis, who hobbled off the court with a back injury in the third quarter.
According to the Lakers, X-rays came back negative, and Davis suffered a sacral contusion. The extent of his injury and potential absence from the team remains unclear.
Despite Davis's injury, the Lakers bench stepped up to support LeBron James, who led the team with 31 points, including six three-pointers. Kyle Kuzma added 16 points, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope chipped in with 15.
Meanwhile, in another NBA game, Carmelo Anthony rolled back the years with 28 points and a last-gasp winner as the Portland Trail Blazers upset the Toronto Raptors 101-99.
Anthony's impressive performance continued his recent form, which includes 26 points in last week's loss to the New York Knicks.
