On January 6, 2020, a shocking incident occurred in Bomet County, Kenya, where a young mother, Sharon Chepkoech, confessed to strangling her five-month-old baby girl.
According to the police report, Chepkoech, 20, told investigators that she killed her baby due to 'hard economic times.'
Police arrested Chepkoech and her boyfriend, who was interrogated over the crime. The boyfriend became alarmed when the baby did not wake up on Tuesday morning and called neighbors, who confirmed the baby appeared lifeless.
Police arrived at the scene, questioned the couple, and detained them. The baby's body was taken to the Kapkatet Sub-County Hospital mortuary.
