Lawyer Miguna Miguna's attempts to return to Kenya have been met with resistance from the Kenyan government, which has issued a red alert against him.

According to sources within the Interior Ministry, Miguna will only be allowed to return to Kenya using a Kenyan passport, not his national Identity Card (ID).

On Tuesday, Miguna was blocked from boarding Lufthansa and Air France planes, with the airlines citing the red alert as the reason for his ejection.

Despite the Immigration Department and Government spokesperson insisting that Miguna would be allowed into the country as directed by the High Court and President Uhuru Kenyatta, the government's warning has effectively blocked his return.

As Miguna tweeted, 'Despot Uhuru Kenyatta and Conman Raila Odinga are so afraid, cowardly, tyrannical and weak that they have sent RED ALERTS to all airlines. We shall never surrender!'

It has now emerged that Miguna's passport was confiscated by Kenyan police officers during his dramatic arrest in 2018, and he must therefore go back to Canada and apply for a new one at the Kenyan embassy.

According to a highly placed source, 'Let him apply for a Kenyan passport at the Canadian capital where we have an immigration office. Once he gets it, he can come over. We don’t want trouble here.'

On Monday, the High Court ordered the government to allow Miguna into the country using his national ID, but the government's red alert has effectively overridden this order.
