Published on January 8, 2020, KTN journalist Tobias Chanji's life has taken a dramatic turn from the brink of committing suicide after a break-up to finding true love.

Chanji, who proposed to his girlfriend Madison while on vacation in Diani, had been healing from a nasty break-up with a former lover that nearly pushed him to take his own life twice.

He was shooting a video for a song he composed after the break-up, titled 'Why Pay Love with Hate', when he met Madison at an airport in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

'I had a very nasty break-up last year that nearly pushed me to commit suicide twice,' Chanji said, explaining how Madison warmed his heart.

Madison, a Newcastle-born flight attendant, had also been healing from a hurtful past, but the two found common ground and shared the same vision.

Chanji gushed about Madison, saying, 'Madi is a very nice, beautiful lady. She worked as a flight attendant and just like me, was also healing from hurt. Although her story is totally different from mine, she is very understanding and shares the same vision as mine. I, also, really love her tattoos.'

The couple is expected to exchange vows later this month, with Chanji hinting that the big day might be on his birthday on January 28.
