On January 7, 2020, a tragic incident occurred in Bisembe Village, Nyamira County, where a Kenya Women Finance Trust Bank employee was brutally hacked to death by a man believed to be a client of the institution.
The victim, identified as Eric Kaluki, a Business Development Officer from the Ikonge Branch, was on a work mission to meet a women's group when the assailant, Anderson Mokaya, aged 32, attacked him.
According to eyewitnesses, Mokaya demanded to know why Kaluki had not paid him his shares, which he had been saving with the bank. In a fit of rage, Mokaya severed Kaluki's hand with a panga and cut him severely at the back of his neck, back, and legs.
