January 7, 2020, marked another day of controversy in Kenyan football as a local coach raised concerns about match-fixing in the Kenyan Premier League.

Coach Herman Iswekha of Zoo Kericho made the allegations after his team suffered a 4-1 loss to AFC Leopards in a league match played in Kakamega on Sunday.

The loss was the team's third in a row, sparking Iswekha's suspicions that his players may be involved in match-fixing.

Although he did not provide any concrete evidence, Iswekha expressed his concerns, stating, 'I have been suspecting that my players were involved in match-fixing. We were not meant to concede some of the cheap goals and all blame goes to the defenders.'

Iswekha also hinted that his players may be 'selling' matches due to financial difficulties within the team.

He warned that players suspected of match-fixing risk being expelled from the team.

This is not the first time match-fixing allegations have been raised in Kenyan football. Last season, Kakamega Homeboyz owner Cleophas Shimanyula claimed his then coach and three players had been receiving cash from an unknown source and conspiring to throw away matches.
