NSE Turnover Triples to KSh 640 Million

On January 7, 2020, the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) witnessed a significant surge in market turnover, rising to KSh 640.5 million from the previous session's KSh 188.5 million.

The number of shares traded also increased, standing at 18.6 million against 5.8 million shares traded the previous day.

The banking counters dominated the traded values, with the Banking Sector accounting for 58.57% of the day's traded value, with shares worth KSh 375 million transacted.

Equity Group Holdings was a notable mover, with 4.48 million shares valued at KSh 241.7 million changing hands at between KSh 53.00 and KSh 54.00.

Other notable movers included Diamond Trust Bank, which rose 1.59% to KSh 112.00, and Barclays Bank, which moved 2.79 million shares worth KSh 37 million and closed at KSh 13.30.

The NSE 20 share Index was down 34.76 points to stand at 2671.62, while the All Share Index NASI edged down 0.35 points to stand at 166.65.

On the other hand, the bond market had bonds worth KSh 803 million transacted.
