Published on January 7, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta's message on the State House Kenya official Facebook page sparked a heated debate on social media.

While discussing his meeting with Guinea Bissau President-elect Umaro Cissoko Embalo in Mombasa, a sizable chunk of Kenyans online seemed distracted by Miguna's woes.

Netizens took to the comments section to express their sentiments after Miguna announced that he had been barred from leaving Berlin Airport, Germany, following a red alert issued prohibiting him from boarding his flight to Kenya.

One user, Dominic Nyagah, wrote, 'We cannot support this BBI when one of our own is stranded in Germany. Allow Miguna back he is a Kenyan. Let Miguna mourn his father in law.'

Others, including Levy Nyabuto and Stephen Tanui, echoed similar sentiments, urging the government to accept Miguna back to the country.

Miguna was deported from Kenya in February on grounds that he had forfeited his Kenyan citizenship after taking up Canadian citizenship. However, the courts have ruled otherwise, prompting President Kenyatta and Immigration Department boss Alexander Muteshi to guarantee Miguna clearance on his return.
