Appliances Kenya, an online retailer, has come under fire for failing to deliver goods to customers who made advance payments during the Black Friday campaign in November 2019.
According to customers, they were promised delivery within seven days after payment, but almost two months later, they have yet to receive their goods.
One customer, Grace Muthoni, ordered goods worth Sh64,975 between November 2 and November 20, 2019, but has never received any of the items.
Another customer, Fredrick Mugo, ordered a television worth Sh9,995 on November 13, 2019, but is yet to receive it. He reported the matter at Kabete police station.
Appliances Kenya has been in operation for three years, but its management has been closed temporarily pending completion of investigations into the theft of goods.
The company claims that the goods were stolen due to an internal security lapse, but customers are skeptical of this explanation.
Appliances Kenya has provided a phone number for customers with pending orders to direct their queries regarding refunds or alternative delivery of goods, but the phone has been switched off for close to a month.
