February 2020 marks a significant milestone for TV47, a new television station that has been testing its infrastructure, human resources, and content for the past six months.
During this pilot phase, the station experimented with the perfect broadcast language, ultimately deciding to use both Kiswahili and English to cater to various audience clusters.
“From feedback and commissioned surveys, we are ready to roll out,” said TV47 CEO Eugene Anangwe. “Through experience during the six months testing phase, we are fully aware of the importance of broadcasting in both English and Kiswahili.”
TV47, which targets youth between 18 and 24 years, has two studios in Nairobi and Mombasa and will broadcast live in these cities, as well as Kigali, Eldoret, and Kisumu.
According to Anangwe, the pilot period came with its fair share of challenges, including human resource issues that led to repeated hiring and firing of talent.
TV47 aims to take on established brands in the industry, including Citizen TV, KTN, NTV, KBC, and K24, and will be launched on February 14 as Cape Media.
