On January 7, 2020, the Tanzanian Football Federation announced Kenyan international Francis Kahata as the December Vodacom Premier League Player of the Month.
Kahata, a midfielder who plays for Simba, received the award ahead of his teammate Hassan Dilunga and Bakari Mwanyeto of Coastal Union. The prize comes with a Sh50,000 reward and an Azam decoder.
Despite a slow start to life in the Tanzanian Premier League, Kahata impressed with two goals in three matches and two assists, solidifying his position in the Simba squad.
Yanga coach Boniface Mkwasa was also recognized as the coach of the month, beating out Coastal Union's Juma Mgunda and Simba coach Sven Vandenbroeck.
