On January 7, 2020, two separate road accidents occurred in Naivasha, claiming the lives of two people and leaving four others seriously injured.
The first incident took place along the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu road, where a trailer driver died on the spot after a head-on collision with a canter heading to Mai Mahiu. Four others, including a minor, were seriously injured and rushed to Mai Mahiu health center.
A witness, Phillip Njihia, attributed the accident to the canter driver, who had overtaken a fleet of vehicles before hitting the oncoming trailer. Njihia stated, 'The accident occurred very fast with the driver of the trailer dying on the spot while four other people were seriously injured.'
Just hours later, an unidentified pedestrian was hit and killed by a speeding motorist along Moi South Lake road in Naivasha. The driver of the car, who was evading a pothole, escaped from the scene, and the pedestrian was confirmed dead on arrival at Naivasha sub-county hospital.
Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed both incidents, stating that the bodies had been collected and taken to the area mortuary.
