Published on January 7, 2020, three individuals were arrested in Kenya after attempting to break into a British army base in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, in Kenya's Rift Valley.
The suspects, who are being held over terrorism links, were tracked down by local law enforcers after surveillance footage of their failed attempt was circulated to police.
According to Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya, the motive behind the attempted forced entry into the British Army Training Unit in Kenya (BATUK) remains unclear, but the three are suspected to have been spying on the base.
"They tried to force their way there but they could not. So they were tracked down. They just had cameras I think, but we are still interrogating them to find out the truth," Mr Natembeya said.
The three were arrested at around 5pm near Nanyuki Police Station, a short distance from the BATUK army base, and are currently being interrogated by detectives.
