January 7, 2020, marked a significant day for Kandara MP Alice Wahome, as she stood firm in her decision not to apologize for her remarks against President Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to Wahome, the multitude of Kenyans who have urged her not to apologize to the president or anyone has emboldened her decision.
Speaking during a fundraiser for bright but needy students at Kagombani Primary School, the legislator emphasized that she was exercising her democratic right to speak about what is ailing the country.
“Are we supposed to blame local chiefs when the country is headed in the wrong direction?” she wondered.
Wahome claimed that she has been threatened and told to apologize or face unknown consequences, but she remains unbowed.
“If you say there is famine, terrorism, economic challenges, financial constraints business problems it’s your freedom to speak,” she said.
The legislator also revealed that she felt reassured by the great support she had received from Kenyans who have promised to stand with her come what may.
