On Monday afternoon, a tragic incident occurred in Nairobi when a man lost his life after a devastating loss at a local casino.
The incident took place at Adlife Plaza, located near Yaya Centre in Nairobi's Kilimani area, where a 40-year-old man identified as Richard Wangai had been gambling.
According to police, Wangai arrived at the building at 4pm and remained there until 5pm, when he tragically took his own life by jumping from the 7th floor.
Police from Kilimani Police Station have launched an investigation into the incident, and a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted to determine the cause of death.
It is alleged that police found some tablets in the deceased's pocket before his body was moved to the City Mortuary.
Wangai's death is the latest in a string of tragic incidents involving gamblers who have lost large sums of money.
Just last year, a 27-year-old man from Kakamega County committed suicide and left a note blaming frustrations arising from unsuccessful bets as the reason for taking his life.
The deceased, Meshack Keith Bwisa, was an employee of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and had advised his family and friends to refrain from betting, saying it ends up impoverishing people.
