On January 7, 2020, a terrorist attack shook the Saretho area, located 25 kilometers from the Dadaab Refugee camp near the Somalia border.
According to Police Spokesperson Charles Owino, the terrorists launched their attack at 5am on Tuesday, but were swiftly repelled by the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF).
During the operation, security personnel, including Special Forces, managed to kill two Al-Shabaab militants and recover two AK 47 rifles and two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
Area Deputy County Commissioner Kibet Bowen confirmed that four people were killed during the attack, with the victims being students who were in houses near the police camp when they were hit by stray bullets.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has assured the public that action will be taken to apprehend the attackers, who are believed to have escaped towards the Kenya-Somali border.
