Published on January 7, 2020, security officials in Kenya have launched a massive manhunt for Al Shabaab operatives spotted at the border of Tana River and Lamu counties.
According to Tana River Police Commander Frederic Ochieng, the injured gunmen, said to number about 11, were sighted at Kilelengwani village in Kipini three days after Thursday's attack.
Authorities blamed the attack on Al Shabaab militants who are active in parts of Lamu County.
Yesterday, Mr Ochieng said they had received a report that the suspects have been seeking treatment secretly after they were shot by soldiers during the incident at Nyongoro.
Police are pursuing intelligence reports and are confident that the suspects will be arrested soon, as they attempt to flee to Boni Forest.
Meanwhile, police in Madogo, Tana River County, are holding an Ethiopian national found with no valid documents to be in the country.
Security has been beefed up in the wake of the Al Shabaab Sunday terror attack at Manda Bay in Lamu County, with a heavy presence of armed and plain clothes police officers deployed in major towns of the county.
