Lawyer Miguna Miguna was set to return to Kenya on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, but was blocked from leaving Germany due to a red alert issued by the Office of the President.

Speaking to Hot 96 on Tuesday morning, Miguna said German authorities have been instructed not to allow him to board a flight to JKIA or any other African country.

According to Miguna, the Kenya Government has demanded that Lufthansa refund his fare and not fly him into any other African country.

“Lufthansa flight manager is saying that the Government of Kenya must send official communication to Lufthansa at Frankfurt office before I can be allowed to fly to Kenya or any other African country,” Miguna said.

He claimed that the red alert was issued directly by President Uhuru Kenyatta, calling him Canadian instead of Kenyan.

“In the red alert issued, they are calling me Canadian not even a Kenyan. They (Kenyan government) are too desperate and way too scared,” Miguna said.

However, the High Court on Monday, January 6, 2020, issued orders compelling the state to facilitate the entry of Miguna into Kenya on Tuesday.

Justice Weldon Korir ordered the Director of Immigration, DCI, and National Police Service not to interfere with Miguna’s entry into the country.

Despite the court orders, Miguna was still blocked from leaving Germany, sparking concerns over the rule of law in Kenya.
