January 6, 2020, marked a significant day for Nelson Mudanyi, a professional golfer from Muthaiga Golf Club, as he shot 7-under 65 to bag the second-round lead at the Safari Tour 2019/20 leg at Thika Greens Golf Resort.
Having carded 3-over 75 in the first round, Mudanyi's round total improved to 4-under (75, 65), tying him with Mathew Omondi, who rounded up his second day with 2-under 70.
Day One leader Greg Snow, sponsored by Johnie Walker, finished at 1-over 73.
Mudanyi's impressive performance was marked by a series of birdies, including one on the opener, two on the 13th and 14th holes, and two more on the 16th and 17th holes.
He attributed his success to a good attitude going into the round and a switch to an Odyssey Works putter, which he said 'worked magic.'
However, Mumias-based long-hitting Dismus Indiza failed to make the cut into the third round, bowing out of contention with 9-over (76, 77).
