January 7, 2020 - HMD Global has started rolling out the Android 10 update for the Nokia 6.1 Plus in Kenya, as previously planned.
The update, which clocks in at 1.3 gigabytes, brings several new features to the device, including a system-wide dark mode, intuitive gestures, and smart replies for specific apps like Android Messages and Google Maps.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus was launched in Kenya in October 2018, priced at Kshs 32,000, and was the first Nokia smartphone with a notch to be launched in the country.
It's worth noting that the update is hitting devices with the December 2019 security patch, rather than the January 2020 one, which is a surprise given the usual update schedule.
Other Nokia devices, including the Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 7 Plus, are expected to receive their Android 10 updates later this month, while devices in the 4, 3, 2, and 1 series will follow in the first quarter of the year.
