Esther Passaris, the Nairobi woman representative, has faced intense backlash on Twitter after revealing that she underwent successful spinal surgery in India.

Passaris' decision to seek treatment abroad has sparked debate, with some criticizing her for not using the country's healthcare system, which is struggling to meet the needs of its citizens.

However, Passaris' critics were further enraged when she revealed that she had spent Sh50 million to be elected, sparking questions about the value of her services to the constituents she represents.

David Ndii, a popular Twitter figure and political strategist, jumped to Passaris' defense, urging Kenyans to be more considerate given her condition.

Ndii posed a series of thought-provoking questions, asking why Passaris' critics were being so mean and whether they were suggesting that public figures should sacrifice their well-being for political correctness.

Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB) boss Ezekiel Mutua also came to Passaris' defense, suggesting that there are better ways to demand better healthcare.

"You know that we are a sick society when people attack Esther Passaris for posting about her surgery in India," Mutua tweeted. "Listen, while we need universal healthcare, hating on leaders and posting bile does not improve the situation. There are better ways of pushing for better policy. Get well soon Mheshimiwa. May God grant you total healing and peace of mind," he added.
