On Monday, AC Milan will face Sampdoria in a crucial Serie A match, marking Zlatan Ibrahimovic's return to the team after an eight-year absence.

Despite signing a six-month contract worth 3.5 million euros ($3.9 million) with the option for an additional season, Ibrahimovic will not be starting in his first game back. Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek will take his place in the starting lineup at the San Siro.

AC Milan, a former European champion, is currently 12th in the Serie A table, 14 points off the Champions League berths. Ibrahimovic's return is seen as a boost to the team's struggling campaign.

Notably, Ibrahimovic helped Milan win their last Serie A title in 2011, but left the club eight years ago to join Paris Saint-Germain.
