'It's either you or me,' Last word of US soldier killed by Al Shaabab in Lamu

On January 6, 2020, Al Shabaab terrorists attacked Manda Bay in Lamu, Kenya, killing US soldier Mitch Mayfield and two others.

Mayfield, who joined the US army in June 2018, had a strong online presence, where he shared his thoughts and experiences with his friends and followers.

One of his Facebook posts read: 'yall ass “i miss you” and “when you comin home” me to death but when i slide yall aint on shit.'

He also shared a photo of himself holding a gun, captioned 'Its either u or me.'

Mayfield's last words, 'It's either you or me,' have been remembered by his friends and family, who are mourning his loss.

Condolence messages have been pouring in from people all over the world, thanking Mayfield for his service and expressing their condolences to his family.
