On Sunday, January 5, 2020, Kenyan police arrested three individuals who attempted to break into the British Army Training Unit in Kenya (BATUK) in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, Kenya's Rift Valley.

According to Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya, the suspects are being held for questioning over alleged terrorism links.

Although the motive behind the attempted forced entry remains unclear, the three are suspected of spying on the army base.

Commissioner Natembeya stated, 'They tried to force their way there but they could not. So they were tracked down. They just had cameras I think, but we are still interrogating them to find out the truth.'

The suspects were caught on surveillance cameras attempting to enter the army base, which then circulated the footage to local law enforcers who tracked them down.

They were arrested at around 5pm near Nanyuki Police Station, a short distance from the BATUK army base.
