On Sunday night, a man in Nyahururu town attempted to take the life of his lover, a police officer, by stabbing her multiple times at her residence.
According to Nyahururu Sub-County Police Commander Geoffrey Mayiek, neighbours heard cries for help from the woman's house at around 9 pm and broke down the door to find her lying on the floor, bleeding heavily.
The woman, identified as Sharon Wamuyu, had been stabbed in the stomach with a kitchen knife and had wounds on her wrist.
Mayiek also reported that the suspect had attempted to take his own life by hanging himself, but the rope was too weak to support his weight, leaving him with slight bruises on the neck.
The police took the woman to St Benedict hospital in Nyahururu for treatment, while the suspect was locked up at Nyahururu Police Station, awaiting arraignment.
