On January 6, 2020, a tense day unfolded in Kampala, Uganda, as police arrested three journalists in the midst of a high-stakes confrontation.
NTV Uganda reporter Arnold Sseremba, NBS Television's Eddy Kisekka, and Radio Simba's Ssematimba Bwejire were among those taken into custody.
The arrests were confirmed by their respective media houses on social media.
The journalists were covering the arrest of politician Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, when the skirmishes broke out.
During the chaos, NTV Uganda driver Egesa Moses suffered a serious injury to his left hand after being hit by a teargas canister.
Tragically, an infant is feared dead in the scuffle between police and residents in Kampala.
