On January 6, 2020, a disturbing incident of domestic violence occurred in Lupida village, Nambale constituency, Busia county.
Henrika Achola, a 32-year-old woman, was the victim of a brutal attack by her husband, who bit off a significant portion of her nose.
According to Henrika, the incident began when her husband, who had been drinking, became aggressive and started chasing her down the road.
‘He was told that he had seen his wife and another person coming from the Busia side. As he approached, he hijacked a motorcycle, knocked her down, and dragged her along the road,’ Henrika recounted in an interview with NTV Weekend Edition.
Henrika was rushed to the Busia Referral Hospital for treatment and was later discharged. She is now awaiting surgery to repair her damaged nose at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
Henrika has accused her husband of threatening her and their daughter after she reported the incident to the police. Her brother, Patrick Magero, also claims that the family has received similar threats from the suspect.
‘He has been threatening to shoot us,’ Magero said.
