On December 26, 2019, Barbara Katwiri was arrested by her husband, a police officer at Muthaiga Police Station, for allegedly stealing his computer and logbook.
She was taken to Ruaraka Police Station, where she was found dead on December 28, 2018, allegedly after committing suicide.
However, her family is disputing the cause of death, citing bruises on her cheeks and bleeding from her private parts.
"Huyo ameuliwa, sikujinyonga. Nimeona amegongwa ngumi kwa uso na anamwaga damu na huku chini," one of her sisters said in an interview with KTN News.
The body is currently at City Mortuary, with the family planning to conduct a postmortem on Tuesday.
Starehe OCPD Alice Kimeli confirmed the incident, stating that the case file has been forwarded to the DCI office Starehe Division for further investigations.
