On January 6, 2020, football stakeholders in Kisii County gathered at Gusii Stadium to discuss the upcoming Football Kenya Federation (FKF) elections. The meeting, attended by over 50 stakeholders, including the Kenya Football Coaches Association (Kefoca) and the Kenya Football Referees Association (KFRA), aimed to address concerns over the FKF constitution.

According to the stakeholders, the current FKF constitution needs to be reviewed before the elections, scheduled for March. They want current office holders to resign three months prior to the elections to prevent interference with the process.

Speaking at the meeting, Kepha Mogire, a coach, expressed his concerns over the current election process. 'Elections should start from the sub-branch going up and all registered clubs to be allowed to vote. The idea that elections should be started from the county level is unacceptable,' he said.

The stakeholders also called for investigations into the mismanagement of football in the country, urging the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to take action.

They demanded the immediate resignation of FKF officials in the top management to pave the way for a free and fair election. The stakeholders emphasized their commitment to transparency and accountability in the management of football matters.
