On January 6, 2020, a tragic incident occurred in Kipchumwa location, Marakwet East constituency, where a man killed his brother in a bitter dispute over plans to sell a family cow.
The suspect had attempted to stop his elder brother from selling the cow to pay school fees for one of his children, leading to a heated exchange of words between the brothers.
Area Chief Richard Chelimo confirmed the incident, stating that the younger brother grabbed a machete and attempted to attack his brother, prompting the elder brother to rush to his house and retrieve a bow and arrows.
According to Chief Chelimo, the elder brother shot the younger brother several times, and he died as he was being rushed to a nearby health facility.
The suspect fled the scene and had not been arrested by the time the incident was reported.
