On a drive around the island of Arran, Pat Nevin, a former Chelsea winger, nearly ran over Roman Abramovich, the club's owner, while Abramovich was cycling.

According to Nevin, the incident occurred about three years ago, and he has never confessed to Abramovich that it was him.

Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland, Nevin recalled the incident, saying: "I came round a corner at the top just before Lochranza and I nearly hit a guy on a bike. I just got out the way at the last moment, I could have killed the guy. It was Roman Abramovich."

Abramovich has an estimated net worth of over £11 billion, but is known to be a mysterious figure at Stamford Bridge, keeping himself to himself and avoiding the media.

Nevin describes Abramovich as "incredibly shy" and notes that being in his presence is like being alongside royalty.
