Published on January 5, 2020, AFC Leopards secured a 4-1 victory over Zoo FC in a Kenyan Premier League match at Bukhungu stadium in Kakamega on Sunday.

Mark Makwata scored a hat-trick for Leopards, while Bonface Mukhekhe also got on the score sheet. Zoo's Collins Neto scored their consolation goal.

Leopards' coach Anthony Kimani expressed delight at his team's victory, saying, "We deserved the win. It is my desire that we push further the winning momentum."

On the other hand, Zoo tactician Herman Swekha said he would work on areas that let them down during the encounter, stating, "The boys created numerous scoring chances, but poor finishing let us down."

Leopards' right winger Mukhekhe stunned Zoo with a 12th-minute goal following a left-wing cross from Collins Shivachi. Zoo mounted a counterattack, but Leopards' strong defense, marshaled by captain Robinson Kamura, contained them.

Leopards went into halftime with a commanding 2-0 lead. After half-time, Zoo came into play a more refined outfit, and Neto headed in past Leopards' custodian Ezekiel Owade in the 47th minute to reduce the deficit.

Makwata was on the mark again when he pounced on a re-bound ball from Zoo's keeper Brian Lumumba to score the third goal in the 66th minute. He completed his hat-trick with a strong shot from the edge of the box in the 75th minute.
