January 5, 2020, marked a day when Zari Hassan took to social media to address a pressing issue affecting many young people in Africa.
She called out socialites who post pictures of their luxurious lifestyles on social media without revealing their actual sources of income, leaving many young people wondering if they too can achieve the same.
"This thing of showing us LV, Gucci bags, breakfast in hotels, business or first class with no jobs should stop," Zari Hassan said in a post.
She emphasized that her message was not targeted at anyone in particular, but rather a general warning to those who might be misleading young people.
"I mean…don’t come for me unless if I’ve called/sent for you. And ooh, if the shoe fits, lace that up?" she added.
Her timely message reflects the thoughts of many African mothers who worry about the influence of social media on their children.
Kenyan young girls have fallen victim to this lifestyle, with some even expressing their desire to live like Vera, Huddah, and Bridget Achieng.
